Do you love animals and adventure? If so, get your hands on a copy of Dewey by Vicki Myron with Bret Witter. This book will excite you with its storyline’s amazing twists and turns, alongside a host of characters that will entertain you for hours.

The novel’s protagonist is Dewey, a beautiful, orange, fluffy kitten found abandoned in a library drop box. Although Dewey’s initially taken in by the library staff, when times get tough he depends on all the citizens in Spencer, Iowa. When people from outside town get wind of this heart warming tale, Dewey’s fame grows around the world.

In addition to the brilliant characterisation, Dewey also deals with social issues. In one part of the story Vicki, one of the librarians, goes through a traumatic time when her husband becomes addicted to drinking. The issue is tackled sensitively and effectively as we see Vicki overcome the problems.

Overall Dewey is an uplifting tale that will warm the hearts of all animal-loving teenagers.
