In this special feature, three of our reviewers give their verdicts on Call of Duty‘s latest offering.

The new addition to the COD series was released 4 months ago and already has become the best-selling game of all time. Its predecessor “Black Ops” was not a great success due to its multiplayer content. But the Call of Duty team has brought back all the greatness that was seen in MW2.

The campaign kicks off immediately after the insanity of MW2. The US is fighting back, while the Russian president seeks to re-claim his influence and depose the maverick leader, Makarov. While Delta Force and SAS squads take their part in the major land attacks, Soap MacTavish and Captain John Price of Task Force 141 are back behind enemy lines, tracking down Makarov in a personal quest for revenge. Joining them is Russian newcomer Yuri, whose uncertain affiliations lead to some of the best plotting in the series.

But there are some bad points to this game. Infinity Ward attempted to beat the minigame, Nazi Zombies and have failed miserably. Although more intense, survival does not have the same feel to it. In the later rounds all you can do is camp, camp, camp. Taking away the enjoyment and replacing it with boredom. In my opinion the worst thing of all is that only two people can play. The whole point of zombies was that you could play with 4 people and still have loads of fun, and if someone left, it wouldn’t matter if you were at a high round you still had another 3 people to play with, but in survival if one person lags out, the game ends.

But who cares about that when there’s multiplayer to be done. A massive improvement to Black Ops and MW2. With intense new killstreaks, new guns, and new maps, it has definitely made it my favourite game. The over-powered guns making it an intense and addictive gameplay. I have prestiged  nearly 14 times now and I still find each and every game as exhilarating as the last.

The action packed, mind blowing new Play station 3 game Modern Warfare 3 is Modern Warfare’s 3rd and best game yet! Unlike Call of Duty Black Ops, you need to work to upgrade your guns, not just simply use credits.

Additionally there is an amazing new mode called survival, which is like special ops in Modern Warfare 2 but you go through waves fighting armed men! As you storm your way through the waves the armed men gets stronger. As you get to higher rounds you come to face helicopters with attached machine guns, and the enemy have also brought through the almighty Juggernaught.

As you storm through this amazing campaign you will cross African Militia and other unbeatable armies. The maps are amazing: you can fight on an American high-rise, a German shopping centre, or even in Paris!

With the new guns you can go ballistic on your opponent. My favourite improvement is that you can forget about lagging; this game will hardly lag and if it does, check your internet because it isn’t the game! With the new Elite you can create your own clan with your friends and get the new maps first!

The new game modes such as Kill Confirmed allows you to rank up much quicker as it is Team Death match but you have to collect dog tags. Also there is drop zone, where you don’t need to have a care package kill streak on as you get tons of them.

My favourite game is Infected, where you have to survive or kill everyone; it is also the easiest game mode to gain a MOAB (Mother Of All Bombs), which sends a blast to the past to the other team. Although you need a whopping 25 kill streak, it’s worth it when you get it!

A brilliant, thrilling game.

Modern Warfare 3 focuses on some of the issues affecting the world today. Packed with explosions, guns and action, this is an exciting, interactive way to learn about the conflicts happening around the world.

Compared to Modern Warfare 2 the graphics and game play have improved significantly, although it still has the same vibe as MW2. Added to that, the game’s creators have gone all out with the online multiplayer, improving many aspects but still keeping it simple.

Also new is the survival mode in the special ops lobby, plus you can play alongside your peers across the net. Special ops aren’t new but on MW2 you couldn’t go online to play with fellow gamers from across the world, so it adds a whole new dimension to the game.

The main multiplayer has improved massively with all new kill streaks, guns, game modes, titles, emblems and even new camouflages for the guns. In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 there’s something for everybody. If you haven’t already bought the game we suggest you get yourself a copy right away.
