The Premier League: 20 teams, three quarters of the games played, two teams left in it with a one point difference. It’s the battle of the Manchester clubs, Manchester United and Manchester City. In the lead, currently, is Manchester United with 67 points and City slipping behind with 66 points; however, the goal difference is something to be dismayed at as City lead with 8 goals.

At the start of the campaign, both teams were playing ruthlessly with 4, 5, maybe even 6-0 wins. With four or five games played, many of Manchester United’s first team players were plagued with injuries, Nemanja Vidic (knee), Rio Ferdinand (back), Tom Cleverley (ankle), Fabio (hamstring), Phil Jones (illness), Ashley Young (knee), Chris Smalling (illness), and it looked like mission impossible to get the team back in action before the upcoming match against City.

At the game itself Manchester City inflicted Manchester United’s worst home defeat since February 1955 as they thrashed the champions in ruthless fashion to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League. This loss created a chain of unfortunate events for United. Losses to bottom of the league Blackburn, in addition to getting knocked out of the champions’ league, saw United’s infamous resilience and courage fade slowly into a pitiful abyss.

On the other hand, Manchester City was going from strength to strength. However, this was not supposed to happen. Manchester United bounced back to their form and the cracks began to show. With Paul Scholes returning from retirement, thereby bringing back some of the team’s much needed stability and security, Manchester United proved that form is temporary and skill is permanent. Simultaneously Manchester City was falling apart. They had lost to newly promoted Swansea 1-0, which brought Manchester United back to the summit of the forever puzzling and compelling League.

Will Manchester City fall back in to the shadow of United again or will the superior City destroy United again in the much anticipated fixture (30 April)? We don’t what the outcome will be, but we can be sure that this clash of the titans will not disappoint.

Great review, you might change my opinion of football.

Mancity will win the premier league as they have a WAY better squad. They have world class players like Aguero, David Silva and Mario Ballotelli whereas Man U only have Nani and Rooney. Players like De Gea and Smalling are talented young players but are not fully developed and will let them down.

But with the older and more respected players like Scholes and Giggs, I’m sure they have enough versatility to win the title.

I told you mancity were going to win the title. They are now only 3 points behind and they play man u at home.

I see your point of view Lorenzo. Man United are falling apart again but I belive City don’t have the experience of Manchester United to go the distance and dig deep when it gets hard.

Once again I told you! On Monday Man City beat Man U 1 – 0. This leaves Man City ahead with two games to go. Experience can only take you so far, and that’s why at the end of the season Man City will have won the Premier League.

  7. lorenzowebster says:

ManCity have now officially won the league just as I said they would.
They have the better team and Manchester United are falling apart.

Next season, we will come back with new players all refreshed and with more youngster developing for England and on loan the future will also be ours.

  8. lorenzowebster says:

I see your point however I disagree. Man city have far superior funds thanks to their arab billionaire owners and therefor every season City will be able to by more world class players. Each season Man City’s squad will get stronger whilst Man U’s will not change much and I can see the two richest teams Chelsea and Mancity begin to dominate English football in the near future.
