Since 1998 EA has been coming up with many new concepts every year to enhance the greatest football game on the planet. This year people have been getting especially excited about the new features in the Career mode.

Career mode is the game’s model of a modern day manager’s life, as you do your best to get your squad as high up the league as possible. However this year the game has added in the chance to compete with an international team in all the major competitions. What is also noticeable is how fast the ability of players under 21 rise meaning the younger international teams soon dominate in all competitions. EA has also added the involvement of the Xbox kinect which allows you to make substitutions and change tactics during the game using your voice. On the other hand it seems to cause a few strange effects; for example I have received several letters from my club’s board warning me about my behaviour and threatening to terminate my contract although I haven’t been saying anything at all while I have been playing!

Another excellent innovation is the first touch control which creates a much more realistic situation were players who possess little ball control will be punished as there touch will be regularly heavy. This will certainly take some getting used to but it will also get you thinking more like a footballer as you have to decide whether to clear the ball first time or take a touch and risk being dispossessed.

If you find training more enjoyable then you will be very happy to hear that you can now practice your FIFA skills in various different exercises. These include targets placed in the goal, Boxes to chip the ball over and cones to dribble around.

Overall the new features and options makes this game very enjoyable to play and has significantly improved on FIFA 12.
