On a freezing afternoon, all the year 9s prepared themselves for an epic race across the frozen, muddy marshland of Mabley Green. But it wasn’t just students that took part; a variety of teachers including Mr El Salahi, Mr Gallagher, Mr Sage and Miss Thomas all competed for the top spot.
First the teachers and students competing in the 2 mile race set off at a steady pace. Mr Gallagher took the lead straight away and kept it for the whole race. Ishaq Miah bravely battled to keep up with Mr Gallagher and earned himself first place out of all the students with a time of 7.51 minutes.
As for the girls, Anele Komani picked up first place with a time of 9.51 minutes.
After that, the 1 mile racers began with Israel Ogunsola taking the lead. He maintained his lead through the race, going on to win in 4.49 minutes. The top girl from the 1 mile race was Shaniah Burns who came through the line in 7.12 minutes.
Since the Year 9 race, Year 10 student Joel Belcher bagged the best time of 7.43 minutes; however, this has since been beaten by Corey Addai with a time of 7.29 minutes.
