stock-photo-bucharest-romania-september-people-buying-fast-food-from-mcdonald-s-restaurant-on-september-133078556It’s a huge market.  Billions of people use them.  They’re recognisable anywhere. It can only be fast food.  I don’t doubt that anybody who reads this post will have gone to a fast food chain at least 50 times in their life.  Huge chains like McDonalds, Burger King and Subway can be found across the globe, from the posh streets of West London, right the way down to the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.  They’re everywhere.   But why do people love them so much?  What makes a BigMac better than “carne al a place”?  Well, the obvious, principal reason is the price.  You would get change from £5, along with a large burger, chips, and a large drink.  But even then, it can’t just be about the price, can it?  I asked a few people on why they go to fast food shops.

“Because sometimes we’re not bothered to cook.”

“It’s nice and quick when I have a busy day.”

                “It’s very cheap”

“It’s a friendly place to be in a weird way.  No one judges you and you’re annonomous.”

So, it seems that it’s not just the price.  People see it as a quick way to grab a meal if they’re in a rush and it’s always an option in stead of cooking.  Also, people seem to feel comfortable in a fast food shop, and I can see what they mean.  You’re nobody in a fast food shop.  Nobody knows you, any so nobody has any expectations of you.  You can be anybody you like and nobody will care.  But, one factor does still remain.  The fact that fast food is still extremely unhealthy.  I was researching some facts and here’s what I found:

  • Before most children can speak they can recognize McDonald’scDonald’s feeds more than 46 million people a day – more than the entire population of Spain
  • French fries are the most eaten vegetable in America
  • You would have to walk for seven hours straight to burn off a Super Sized Coke, fry and Big Mac
  • McDonald’s distributes more toys than Toys-R-Us
  • One fast food hamburger contains meat from around 100 different cows.
  • McDonald’s distributes more toys per year than Toys-R-Us
  • One fast food hamburger contains meat from around 100 different cows.

And so, despite these shocking facts, billions of people still gorge themselves on tons of processed meat.  But then again there is all the advantages listed before and so, I would reccoment to go maybe once a month at the maximum.
